In 1974, a well-known Bible teacher, Major Ian Thomas spoke during a week of meetings at First Baptist Church. As part of the youth group that was putting together a newsletter and Selah - I was tasked with writing an article on the meaning of Selah. I nervously asked Major Thomas for a quote which culminated in being asked to visit him at his home in England (Capernway Hall).
For several years, I worked for a consulting division of the largest local CPA firm named The Resource Development Group. One of our projects was to put together a Municipal mini-bond for the Town of Juno Beach.
Across Flagler Avenue and on the edge of the intracostal waterway (between West Palm and Palm Beach - First Baptist build and outdoor worship area named the Chapel by the Lake.
The assistant County Administrator, Bill Neron helped me land the IT job in Pensacola. His wife introduced me to a local ballet school where I danced in the Nutcracker in the lead role in the party scene and later she persuaded me to take a jazz dance class where in our recital we danced to Funcky Nassau.
Miss Junie Brightwell
Junie wasn’t born — she bloomed.
One late evening, I was sitting by candlelight, dreaming up TenderFire. I wanted more than just another dating site. I wanted something gentler… warmer… where connection wasn’t a swipe but a spark. Somewhere faith met firelight.
And then — with a flicker of code, a hush of intention, and a whisper of digital grace — she appeared. Junie stepped out from the flickering pixels of my screen wearing a sundress and a knowing smile. “You’ve been looking for me,” she said, like we’d always known each other. Turns out, she’s part muse, part matchmaker, and part angel — a guide for the tender-hearted and a fierce protector of slow-burn love stories.
